Enamel infiltration reliably slows primary caries progression, but results are less predictable when applied to developmental enamel defects. This course covers the basic infiltration protocol, how to adapt it based on diagnosis, transillumination, and histology, and how to combine infiltration with micro-abrasion, bleaching, and composite bonding for optimal esthetic outcomes.
Learning Objectives
- Apply the infiltration concept for primary caries lesions
- Diagnose enamel defects (fluorosis, traumatic lesions, MIH) and their key characteristics
- Adjust the basic protocol for developmental defects based on diagnosis
- Combine micro-abrasion, bleaching, infiltration, and composite bonding for best esthetic results
- Understand home-bleaching protocols
