Periodontal Strategies for Managing Soft and Hard Tissue Defects

This session will explore clinical decision-making and surgical strategies in the management of soft and hard tissue defects around teeth and implants. Drawing from a periodontist’s perspective, it will focus on evidence-based approaches to optimize functional and esthetic outcomes in perio-prosthetic cases.

About Dr. Thomas Nguyen

Dr. Thomas Nguyen is the Director of Continuing Dental Education and Associate Director of the Division of Periodontics at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences at McGill University. He previously served as Director of Predoctoral Periodontology at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Nguyen earned his DMD from the University of Montreal, followed by an AEGD residency at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health. He holds an MSc from McGill University and completed his specialty training in Periodontics at the University of Minnesota. He also completed an Executive MBA from the McGill-HEC Montreal program.
Dr. Nguyen is both a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. His clinical and research interests focus on improving patient care through the use of innovative technologies. He is actively involved in research related to implant dentistry, soft and hard tissue regeneration, and the integration of artificial intelligence in dental practice.
